The 21-year-old made his Latics debut off the bench in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Port Vale, just 48 hours after completing his move to the DW.

Having spent much of the campaign fighting off the threat of relegation to League Two, Colclough is now setting his sights on hopefully winning promotion to the Championship.

But he says the pressure, and level of expectancy, remains exactly the same.

“The pressure is all the same to be honest, whether you’re at the top or the bottom of the league,” he told the Evening Post.

“You’re still going out to win the game, give it your all, and hopefully you get the result.”

Colclough was identified by boss Gary Caldwell after impressing in his three appearances against Latics this term - twice in the league and once in the JPT, a match in which he scored.

And he had no hesitation in jumping ship to a club desperate to regain their Championship status at the first attempt.

“This is a massive club, and one that shouldn’t really be in this division,” he insisted.

“I’d like to help as best I can, and hopefully help us get promoted to the Championship.

“I’ll be pushing for a place in the team between now and the summer.

“And if I can get that, I can hopefully score some goals and help us win promotion.”
