The 29-year-old was conducting an online Q&A with fans during the current lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

And despite cheering on the likes of Ryan Giggs, Mark Hughes and Craig Bellamy as a young Wales fan, Cardiff-born Ramsey opted to choose his all-time No.1 from club football.

“Graham Kavanagh played in the middle of the park, where I played,” Ramsey revealed.

“That was my goal always, to get into that team, into that position and to be like him.

“That was all I was focused on doing it, making it and becoming a professional at Cardiff.”

Ramsey had previously mentioned his admiration for Kavanagh - who played 55 times for Latics, helping them reach the Premier League in 2005, as well as winning 16 caps for the Republic of Ireland.

“I was born just outside Cardiff so obviously I supported them," Ramsey said. "And Kavanagh was the player I looked up to and wanted to be like.”
