The Northern Ireland international’s red hot form has run in tandem with Latics’ recent streak – but he has warned his team needs to find ‘sixth gear’ to reach their goals.

“We’re not where we want to be yet though – there’s still a way to go,” he said.

“It’s one of those. We’ve been doing the right thing and playing some good stuff but our aim is to win the league.

“Although we’re doing well at the moment, until we’re at that top spot we won’t be happy.”

Speaking of last week’s stalemate, Grigg added: “It was a little realisation we need to go into that sixth gear.”

But Grigg, who has found the net five times in his last seven games, is confident Latics can break into the top two this weekend.

“It’s going to be a tough game,” he said.

“It’s nice to be on a scoring run and it’s come in with a run for the team and we’ll be going there to win it.”
