The Latics, who have a 12-point deduction hanging over their heads after the club announced they had gone into administration, sit in 16th spot in the table.

Stoke City, beaten on Tuesday night at the DW Stadium, gave their survival hopes a major boost after they thrashed second-bottom Barnsley 4-0 at home.

Michael O'Neill's men moved to 18th in the table but are still only two points clear of third-bottom Middlesbrough, who play QPR tomorrow.

It was a day to forget for bottom side Luton who were crushed 5-0 at home by Reading.

Huddersfield added to their points tally by securing a 0-0 draw at home to play-off chasing Preston North End at the John Smith's Stadium.

Danny Cowley's men are still in danger, just two points above the drop in 20th position.

Birmingham are still in danger in 17th spot having lost 1-0 away at Fulham.
