It's a dog's life for Donervan's mutt!

Wigan Athletic star Donervon Daniels brought an unusual '˜plus one' to training on Friday morning - his pet pooch!

Obviously that was ‘Woof’ on the club’s staff - including Karen Armstrong - who had to look after him while dealing with her regular duties.

So to mark the event, we asked Latics fans to send us their favourite dog-related players to make up a fictional side.

And here is our definitive ‘Latics Dog XI’ - sorry, make that ‘La-TICS Dog XI - who would obviously play their home matches at Springfield BARK.

First up in goal we have Jakob Hau-GAARD DOG, who narrowly gets the nod ahead of ALSATION Al Habsi and Carlo (G)NASH-er.

At right back is the skipper of the side, the double-barrelled offering of (Emyr) HUWS a good (Emmerson) BOYCE, with Ryan TAIL-or at left-back, meaning Leighton GREAT BAINES just misses out.

The two centre-backs are Arjan de SHIH TZU, and - the man who started all this madness - DOBERMAN SPANIELS.

Midfield was a very keenly-contested area, with James McBARKthy and James McBARKthur both solid shouts, along with Jimmy BULL-DOG, Gavin MASSEY-TIFF, TERRIER Cooke and SAMOYED Morsy.

But the three who got the nod in the end were Paul DOG-LEASH, Tim CHOW CHOW and the man of the moment, Nick GROWL.

Up front was even tougher to select, with an embarrassment of riches at our disposal.

That meant disappointment for, among others, Andy LEAD-ell, CANINE Woolery, SCOTTIE Sinclair and Martyn WAG-horn.

But congrats to the three who did make the cut - Omar BEAGLE, Antoine SIBERIAN-HESKEY and King CHARLES Spaniel N’DOGBIA.

Obviously the team will need a manager, so who better than PAW-L Cook, with able support from ROVER-to Martinez and Ian McN-HEEL.

Head of recruitment is MUTT Jackson, physio is JACK RUSSELL Hitchen, and the chairman...well that has to be David SHAR PEI.

Any press enquiries would have to go through Ed BONES, while there’s also a key role for club photographer SAINT BERNARD Platt.

Obviously someone would have to report on this lot for Wigan Today, which I - Paul KENNEL-drick will do, ably assisted by freelancer supreme GRRRRRRRRR-eg Farrimond.

I’m expecting big things of the ‘Latics Dog XI’.

They should WINALOT of games anyway...
