It's not about the money - Wigan Athletic boss

Paul Cook says he couldn't care less about how much this weekend's visitors Nottingham Forest have spent on pushing for the Premier League.

And the Latics boss says his side will be sent out as they are every week – believing they can match their opponents.

“As a manager, I think too many people make far too much out of what other managers and other clubs spend,” he said.

“I’ve always felt that, no matter which club I’ve been in charge of at the time.

“In my world, it’s just a way of heaping pressure on to someone else, which is a little bit unfair.

“We’ll not be speaking about Forest as one of the biggest sides in the division with a lot of money.

“We’ll be speaking about them as a very good team, with very good players and an outstanding manager who’s been promoted from this division before.

“They play a really good brand of football and we’re in for a very difficult game.

“But at the same time, we’re preparing ourselves for what we believe will be a very difficult game for Forest, in terms of what we can do to them.

“As a manager, that’s the thing you should be focusing on.

“I’m not particularly interested in what other clubs are spending on players.

“In every league you’re going to have teams spending different amounts of money.

“It’s not about what the other clubs are doing – it’s about what we do with our money.”
