ALI Al Habsi is training with Championship outfit Reading with a view to earning a permanent contract following his departure from Wigan Athletic.
The Oman No.1 left the DW this summer having chalked up five years of sterling service after joining from local rivals Bolton in 2010.
He hoping to remain in the UK, and is aiming to impress Royals goalkeeping coach Dave Beasant - a fellow ex-Latics stopper - enough to warrant a deal.
“The Royals are pleased to have goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi training with us in the coming days, with a view to a possible permanent stay,” said a Reading statement.
“Al Habsi has made than 100 Premier League appearances and has over 100 international caps, and joined up with the Royals on Thursday morning.
“The next few days’ training give both the club and Ali the opportunity to get to know each other better, and the 33-year-old brings a wealth of experience.
“Ali will train under our new goalkeeping coach Dave Beasant, who began working with the club this week.”
