ROBERTO Martinez has promised Mauro Boselli he’ll get another chance to prove himself at Wigan Athletic.
Boselli, who returned to the club in the summer after 18 months out on loan, begged Martinez to give him a run-out for the second-string against Barnsley on Monday.
And the Argentine responded by notching his side’s last-gasp leveller in a 3-3 thriller at Robin Park.
With Saturday’s visit of Fulham being the first of three games in the space of seven days, Martinez knows he will need to rely on his whole squad to see him through.
And he hinted Boselli – who scored on his only start this term in the Capital One Cup win at Nottingham Forest – is in line for a recall up front.
“What happened on Monday will obviously act as a real confidence-booster for Mauro,” Martinez told the Evening Post.
“But more than that it shows you the kind of attitude he continues to show behind the scenes.
“It would be all too easily for him to be disappointed, but all he is focused on is preparing himself if and when he is called upon.
“He knows he is going to get his chance, and he is determined to work as hard as he can in the meantime.
“Mauro came and asked me whether he could play in the Under-21s, which is a fantastic sign for me as a manager.”
