GARY Caldwell admits Wigan Athletic’s goals against column remains a cause of concern.
Despite having yet to concede a goal at home in the league, Wigan’s defence on the road has been like a sieve, with nine goals being shipped in their four matches played.
And the Latics chief admits this week has been all hands to the pump at the training ground in an attempt to put things right.
“It is a concern to me, and we’ve been working hard on defending this week because of that,” Caldwell told the Evening Post.
“But it’s not just about defending – it’s about controlling the game.
“Because we haven’t been passing the ball as much away from home as we have at home, we’ve not been able to control games as well.”
Caldwell, however, is feeling optimistic ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Fleetwood Town.
“Our home performances have been excellent in general,” he added. “The results have followed and hopefully we can continue that on Saturday.”
