GARY Caldwell admits he’s had to keep the shackles on his Wigan Athletic players to avoid them working too hard in training.

The Latics players returned to Wigan last night after a successful warm-weather training camp in La Manga.

Tonight they’re back into the swing for their first official warm-up game of the summer at Altrincham.

And Caldwell couldn’t be happier with the attitude shown by his squad.

“I’ve been really pleased with the way the players have been working,” he told the Evening Post.

“Everyone came back in good spirits, in great condition, and we’ve managed to get a lot of football work in already.

“There’s been times we’ve even had to calm it down because the boys have been so intense in their work – which is always a good thing.

“The players have given me everything so far, and on that point I’m very happy.”

It’s pay on the gate at the J Davidson Stadium priced £7 adults, £4 concessions, U5s free. Kick off is 7.45pm.
