Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell has moved to bolster his backline with the loan signing of Everton defender Luke Garbuttu
Garbutt joins on loan, initially until January, although not in time to feature in Tuesday night’s Championship clash against Birmingham.
The 23-year-old from Harrogate is a very welcome addition, with Latics having been decimated in the full-back ranks this term.
Reece James (ankle), Andy Kellett (knee) and Kyle Knoyle (elbow) all picked up injuries in pre-season that will keep them out for several months.
And earlier this week Caldwell confirmed Daniels will be out until mid-October at the earliest having been booked in for a knee operation.
Garbutt has represented England all the way through the junior ranks to Under-21 level.
He has made five appearances for the Everton first team, as well as spending time out on loan at Cheltenham, Colchester and Fulham.
