Cook: It's a repetitive message for Wigan Athletic players

Paul Cook wants no thoughts of promotion parties creeping into his players' mindsets before the job is done.

Latics currently need four points from their remaining four games to ensure automatic promotion back the Championship, but if results go their way today that could be it.

And even though the odds are stacked heavily in his side’s favour, Cook is refusing to look past this afternoon’s clash with Fleetwood.

“Just keep going,” he said when asked about the finish line being in sight.

“It’s a repetitive message. There’s four games to go, there’s a points tally now that’s achievable to be promoted. You just keep going and keep focused on what you’re doing.

“Until it’s done it’s not done, and football over the years has provided so many consistent turn-ups or things that have surprised and shocked people that you’ve just got to make sure your focus is on the next game and that’s Fleetwood for us.”
