DONERVON Daniels is hoping this week’s training camp in La Manga will allow him to strike the right note at Wigan Athletic.
The 21-year-old centre-back is one of seven summer signings aiming to impress Gary Caldwell.
Joining Latics also means another task to negotiate – an initiation song to announce his arrival.
“There’s about nine new lads, including staff, who have to sing for the group,” he told the Evening Post.
“At every club I’ve ever been at, I’ve sung the same song – ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ by R Kelly. It never gets any better but I won’t change.”
Latics have several other offers on the table for proposed signings. But Daniels is staying cautious.
“It’s great the club is showing ambition, but until we get the players through the door then it’s just a bid,” he added.
Daniels made a winning start to his Latics career in a 2-1 behind-closed-doors win over Queen of the South in La Manga.
Max Power and a trialist –thought to be ex-Fleetwood man David Ball – scored.
