Wigan Athletic’s final away game of the season at Blackpool will be broadcast on a giant screen on the DW Stadium pitch after the club confirmed it won’t receive any more tickets for the game.
The April 30 fixture at Bloomfield Road is shaping up to be a huge one for both sides with Wigan potentially able to seal promotion while the Seasiders could be relegated.
Latics’ allocation of over 3,000 was sold in under three hours and although the club requested further tickets, Blackpool have now confirmed that they are not able to allocate any additional tickets.
To satisfy the huge interest in the match though, up to 2,000 extra Latics fans will now be able to watch the game live on a giant 25 metre square open air screen erected in front of the Springfield Stand – the first time the DW Stadium will host such an event.
Fans will enter the beam-back screening from Turnstile A in the Springfield Stand and sit on the seats facing the screen, which will be on the side of the pitch. The sound of the match will be piped through the stadium’s PA system, while supporters will be able to consume alcohol in the stands.
Food and drink will be available to purchase from the Springfield Stand concourse.
Tickets will go on sale to season card holders from tomorrow at 9am priced at £7 before non season card holders will be able to purchase them for £10 on Saturday from 11am should there be any remaining. All under-18s will pay £5.
Tickets will also be available to purchase online at www.wiganathletic.com/tickets, on the Credit Card Hotline 0871 66 33 552 or in person at the DW Stadium Ticket Office.
