Will Grigg admits a place at this summer’s European Championships would be a more than decent consolation for missing out on Wigan Athletic’s season-ending trip to Las Vegas.
The 24-year-old remained at home as the rest of the Latics squad jetted out to ‘Sin City’ last week, their reward from chairman David Sharpe for a League One title-winning campaign.
Earlier this week the 28-goal hitman was named in Northern Ireland’s provisional 28-man squad for the Euros, to be trimmed to 23 later this month.
And he says a trip to France to mix it with the best in Europe would be the perfect end to a perfect campaign.
“Vegas would have been nice, but sometimes you have to prioritise things and the Euros is definitely big enough to warrant missing that,” he told the Evening Post.
“We’ve had a week’s rest before getting back into it, and it’s hopefully going to be a busy summer for me.
“The squad gets announced on May 28, and it’ll be hard work all the way up to then.”
