JOSH McEachran is getting closer to his first Wigan Athletic start since joining last month.
Manager Uwe Rosler has said that the on-loan Chelsea midfielder hasn’t yet been ready to play a full game but after the 20-year-old completed 90 minutes for the development squad on Tuesday, it now looks like he is close to a start.
“We have players who will soon be able to play for a full 90 minutes, for example Josh McEachran,” Rosler told the Evening Post.
“Obviously up front we need our top scorer, Nick Powell, we miss him. For a 19-year-old he has been tremendous for us this season. When I came I saw that the kid has played a lot of football and obviously now everybody asks for a rest and that is why he gets a rest in terms of he has a niggle here and a niggle there.”
Two other players who also featured for the development squad were defenders Thomas Rogne, who is on the road to recovery from injury, and new signing Markus Holgersson.
“In central defence we were very, very thin for a long time,” added Rosler.
“Ivan Ramis still needs a little more time before he can play, Thomas Rogne will need more work and Markus will need a little more work because he is coming on the back of a holiday.”
