OWEN Coyle fully expects Arouna Kone to join Everton ‘sooner rather than later’.
Kone has been strongly linked with Everton since Roberto Martinez took over at Goodison Park last month.
Latics are holding out for the player’s release clause - believed to be £6.5million - which the Toffees are close to meeting.
And Coyle, who succeeded Martinez in the Latics hotseat, says the move is in the best interests of all parties.
“There’s no point being evasive - we expect Arouna Kone will go, sooner rather than later,” Coyle said.
“The clause we all know he has in his contract is close to being triggered, and he has indicated he would like to leave.
“The whole world knows about his contract situation - his representative has made everyone aware of that.
“Probably the only ones who didn’t have to be made aware of that are Everton, because obviously Roberto and his staff were party when the clause went into the contract.
“The agent has indicated to us that Arouna has chosen his preferred destination, which is Everton.
“That will happen as long as Everton get to the required clause - it’s as simple as that.”
