WIGAN Athletic have added another friendly to their pre-season schedule.
Uwe Rosler’s side will take on Turkish Champions League side Besiktas at Leigh Sports Village on July 15.
The Istanbul-based team, who finished third in their league last season, have a training camp in the North West and the Wigan boss reckons it’ll be the perfect test for his side.
“We needed another match before we go to Germany,” said Rosler. “Besiktas will be a really good test of where we are physically and tactically at that stage.
“The only thing that matters is that we are ready for Reading on August 9 and this match will be an important part of our preparation.”
Besiktas are managed by former Croatia manager and ex-West Ham United and Everton defender Slaven Bilic.
It’s a familiar outfit for Latics goalkeeper Scott Carson who has played against them four times during his time in Turkey with Bursaspor.
Ticket details and kick-off time will be confirmed by the club in due course.
