WIGAN Athletic have extended the loan of midfielder Francisco Junior from Everton.
The 23-year-old was set to return to Goodison Park this week but following an impressive start, Gary Caldwell has agreed a deal to keep him at Latics until January 16.
Junior has started all three league matches for Wigan so far this season, and the Latics boss is delighted to be able to keep the player until at least the turn of the year.
“Cisco has been a revelation since he’s arrived,” he said. “When we found out there was a possibility of extending the loan, it was something I was very keen to get sorted.
“He gives us something different in the middle of the park and complements very well the other players we have in that department. His attitude has been spot on and he has blended very well into the group.”
Junior arrived at the club alongside fellow Goodison Park loanee Jonjoe Kenny on the day the players set out for their pre-season trip to Scotland in July, initially on a month-long loan which ended after Wednesday’s victory against Scunthorpe United.
