LATICS are hoping to tie up the loan capture of Marc Albrighton from Aston Villa in the next 24 hours.

And the 23-year-old could be in line to make a dramatic debut on Wednesday night against QPR.

Boss Owen Coyle has been desperately seeking reinforcements to his forward line all season.

But the grim verdict on Shaun Maloney’s hip problem - which could sideline the Scot for several months - has forced him to focus his attentions on a wide man.

Albrighton has slipped down the pecking order at Villa Park, and hasn’t made a single Premier League appearance all season.

His solitary run-out came in the Capital One Cup thrashing at the hands of Tottenham, and he is desperate to secure first-team football to kickstart his career.

It’s understood Albrighton would jump at the chance to join Latics, initially on a short-term basis.

The only hold-up to the deal is the financial arrangement, but it’s hoped a deal can be reached that would be in the best interests of all three parties.

Latics dropped two more points at Charlton yesterday to remain in mid-table in the Championship - albeit with two games in hand.

The first of those sees Harry Redknapp’s high-flying Hoops visit the DW on Wednesday.
