ROTHERHAM centre-half Craig Morgan will become a Wigan Athletic player, subject to him passing a medical.
Morgan will officially join the Latics on July 1 after his contract with Rotherham United expires.
The 29-year-old Welsh international centre-half has agreed terms on a two year deal, with the option of a third season, having played over 350 matches in the Football League for Wrexham, MK Dons, Peterborough, Preston North End and Rotherham United.
Morgan turned down other offers, including clubs in the Championship, and Latics manager Gary Caldwell is delighted to have netted his man: “We knew Craig’s contract was up and he may be available, and this was somebody we were very interested in bringing to the club. We are delighted he has chosen to join Wigan Athletic.
“He has great experience, having played internationally but he also knows the division inside out. He is a quality defender, a real leader on the pitch who has been a captain, with a superb attitude and we are delighted to have him on board. “
