JAMES McArthur is looking forward to hitting the ground running next season after Wigan Athletic’s fixture list was revealed yesterday.
Latics will take on Reading at the DW in the first game on August 9 before trips to Charlton and Cardiff and the midfielder wants to his team-mates to do “whatever it takes” to win promotion.
“It’s so important we get out of the Championship as quickly as we can,” he said.
“Every year you’re in there, it becomes even harder to get out, and we need to do whatever it takes to do the job.
“Everything around the club is positive and hopefully we can take that into next year.”
Latics will end their season at Uwe Rosler’s former club Brentford.
Talking about the return, the German joked: “If I had the choice, I would have avoided playing them this season.”
Meanwhile, Wigan winger Jean Beausejour enjoyed a memorable game at the World Cup last night.
The Chilean, who is expected to leave the DW Stadium this summer with his contract up , was an unused substitute in his national side’s shock 2-0 victory over Spain in Brazil.
However, the 30-year-old had plenty to smile about at full-time with the result meaning Chile progress to the last-16 of the competition while defending champions Spain were knocked out.
