'˜Perfect opportunity' for Wigan Athletic - Jacobs

Michael Jacobs says tonight's visit of Swansea is the '˜perfect opportunity' for Wigan Athletic to get back on the horse after losing at Norwich.

Latics suffered a fourth away defeat out of five at Carrow Road, but will be heartened by the fact they’ve picked up 13 points from a possible 15 at the DW Stadium.

“It’s another game and it’s a great opportunity for us to put things right,” Jacobs told the Wigan Post. “Having lost at Norwich we need to put some more points on the board, and keep things ticking along.

“We’re taking a massive following to Preston on Saturday, and we need to use this is as the perfect chance to get back on track.”

Jacobs admits he’s struggling to marry Wigan’s wretched run of results on the road with their fine form at home.

“If you look at the performances, I just think we’ve maybe been a little bit naive away from home,” he insisted.

“In general I think we’ve played well in most if not all of the games.

“I just think we’ve been naive in certain aspects which has cost us big time.

“We need to cut that out as quickly as we can, and make things easier for ourselves.

“I felt like we deserved a point at Norwich, having played quite well in the game.

“We were maybe not as clinical as we’ve been in other games, and we were punished.

“You’d probably take a point going to Norwich, but it’s just so heartbreaking to lose it at the end.”

Fit-again striker Will Grigg is hoping to return to the starting line-up after his late cameo off the bench at Norwich. There are no fresh injuries.
