JEROME Sinclair has joined Wigan Athletic on loan from Liverpool for the rest of the season and he goes straight into the squad for Tuesday night’s crunch clash with Watford.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers – a former colleague of Malky Mackay from their days at Watford – has allowed the 18-year-old to join Sheyi Ojo at the DW Stadium to aid Wigan’s survival bid.
“We had a long chat about Jerome and we both feel that this is a positive step for him to make in his career, which will hopefully benefit both clubs,” revealed Mackay.
“We have to thank Liverpool for allowing him to come to Wigan, but they have seen how well Sheyi is progressing and that we are a club who will nurture a young player with potential.
“We are all hopeful he can make a good contribution during his time here.”
Sinclair has scored 22 goals so far this season for Liverpool’s junior sides, and has been capped by England at Under-16s and Under-17s level.
