LATICS wrap up their pre-season campaign tomorrow against SC Paderborn – and skipper Emmerson Boyce says the squad is in good shape for the bigger challenges ahead.
Latics have had mixed fortunes during their warm-up programme, with Uwe Rosler giving game-time to as many players as possible while contending with an already-growing injury list.
After easily disposing of German outfit TSV Havelse 3-1, Latics drew 0-0n against Walsall before claiming the prize scalp of Besiktas at the DW.
Since returning to Germany for their second training camp, Latics were beaten 4-1 by Fortuna Dusseldorf with only the clash with SC Paderborn left.
“The schedule’s been interesting because it’s always good to play against different nationalities and different styles,” said Boyce.
“It’ll be completely different in terms of what we’ll face from some teams in the Championship this season, but we learned a lot about ourselves and added some positivity to the camp. It’s been a good mix and it’s all about making sure we’re ready for the first game of the season against Reading.”
