Max Power: It's almost party time, but we want 100 points

We all knew the importance of the game against Oxford the other night.

The longer the game’s gone on...you’re getting edgy, the crowd’s getting edgy...understandably so.

But it’s such a good pass from Sam (Morsy), Devante (Cole) gives us something different up front, and that’s bread and butter for Will (Grigg), in the right place at the right time.

I played most of the game at right-back,...and was I delighted to see Gav (Massey) come on in the second half! Because the tank was nearly empty.

He’s come on and done a great job, brought a little bit more pace down the right-hand side, and helped us to get the win.

It was great to see the strikers combine for the winning goal.

I imagine it’s been very tough for Devante over the last few months.

He’s gone from being the main man at Fleetwood to turning up here and finding himself in competition with Griggy and Vaughany.

He’s had to bide his time, and I’m sure he’s have liked more time out there in the middle.

But he’s stuck with it, and he was there when we needed him on Tuesday.

He’s come on and delivered, and he almost scored himself in the dying seconds when he hit the post.

I’ve been in his position of course earlier this season, when I was out of the side.

You’ve just got to stick with it, bide your time, and be there when the team needs you.

The win cemented our position at the top of the table, and that’s where we want to be,

Over the course of the season, I think the other teams at the top maybe developed a bit of false confidence by being ahead of us in the table.

We had the FA Cup run going on, and it was hard to take seeing someone else on top because they hadn’t knocked us off.

Fair play to Blackburn, you can’t knock the run they’ve been on, and Shrewsbury have also stayed up there very well.

It’s coming to a head now, though, and we can clinch promotion at Fleetwood if we win and Shrewsbury don’t beat Bury.

We’re so close, but there’s still four games to go, and I never like taking things for granted, until it’s done.

It’s amazing we’ve already got three more points on the board than we managed two years ago, when we picked up the League One title...with four games to go!

It’s just been one of those seasons, and all you can do is keep going, keep winning until you’re over the line.

We know it’s in our hands, it’s always been in our hands, and that’s what you want.

Four more wins would take us to 102 points, and that would be a great milestone for everyone at the club to reach.

First thing’s first, I just want to see the ‘P’ next to our name on Sky Sports News to say we’ve been promoted!

Next after that I want to see a ‘C’ for champions, and get that medal in our hands.

We’ve always been quite bullish in saying we believe we are the best team in this league, and it would be nice to back that up.

It was nice to catch up at the game the other night with Gary Caldwell, who was doing a bit of radio work.

I owe so much to Gary, he brought me to this club, and I still keep in touch with him.

I’d love to see him back in football, he’s had a bit of a tough time, but he’s still a young manager and he’s still learning.

We spoke a little but about the memories of two years ago, and no-one who was involved in that side will ever forget that time.

Of course we clinched promotion at Blackpool that year, and we could do it this weekend just up the coast at Fleetwood.

A repeat of those celebrations would be nice...although I don’t think I’ll be putting my body through the week that followed in the lead-up to the Barnsley game!

That Barnsley game still haunts me...I think we made our third change after 50 minutes, and I was thinking: ‘Oh no, I can’t do this’...

I don’t think this has ever come out, but the training ground was broken into that week, all the boots got pinched, and we were all playing in borrowed or new boots.

I had blisters on blisters that day, my heels were killing, Yanic (Wildschut) came off at half-time I think with sunstroke...nothing was going right.

We couldn’t have played a worse time as well in Barnsley, who were bang in form and needing a win to get into the play-offs.

This time, if we do get promoted, I think we’ll be waiting until the end of the season before the party starts!
