New deals offered to Wigan Athletic quartet

John Sheridan has revealed contract extensions have been offered to Viv Solomon-Otabor, Dan Gardner, Nathan Cameron and Danny Fox with a view to keeping them at Wigan Athletic for at least the first half of the campaign.

The quartet all penned short-term deals on the eve of the campaign, which are due to run out next week.

But with the future of the club looking more secure now a buyer has been found, Sheridan says moves are already afoot to hand out new deals.

"We want the four of them to stay," he told the Wigan Post.

"I think they're part of a good group, and we've told them we want them all to stay.

"I'm remaining hopeful we can keep all three of them in the squad.

"They're all big parts of a good dressing room here, which is always important.

"The extensions have been offered and hopefully they'll all accept them.

"Obviously the good news off the field can only help with things like this.

"Peace of mind is important, and obviously people who were worried about their jobs and their futures will be able to become a bit more relaxed."

Gary Roberts also signed a short-term deal just before the season started.

And although the veteran forward is currently out with a damaged hamstring, it's expected he'll also be offered an extension as and when he regains full fitness.
