'No magic formula' to revival, insists Wigan Athletic boss

Paul Cook admitted the 1-0 victory at Championship leaders West Brom was 'just a continuation' of Wigan Athletic's remarkable recent form.

Latics were second in the form table only to the Baggies heading in to a pivotal game at both ends of the second tier.

And Sam Morsy's 73rd-minute goal ensured Latics jumped three places in the table to sixth-bottom - three points clear of the drop zone.

It also made it three wins - and a hat-trick of clean sheets - in the space a week, after last weekend's 1-0 victory over Millwall and the midweek 3-0 drubbing of Reading.

"We played very well today, we deserved the win, and the lads should take an awful lot of credit," enthused the Latics boss.

"It was just a continuation of Reading on Wednesday night really.

"The temptation was to change the team, but I just felt it was such a complete performance, in terms of balance in the team.

"You want to bring in fresh legs, especially in the flair players' positions, but those who played on Wednesday deserved to stay in."

Latics have now picked up 17 points from their last eight matches, to hit the 40-mark with 10 matches still to go.

But Cook again rejected the notion anything much has changed in terms of approach or tactics.

"We haven't done anything different," he insisted.

"Everyone wants to believe there's some magic formula in football - there's not.

"It's repetition in what you're doing, belief in what you're doing, and confidence comes when you do things well."
