It’s understood several parties have approached the administrators with a view to stepping in after the Spanish bidders sensationally dropped out at the beginning of the week.

And Ms Nandy says she’s aware of ‘a number’ of other groups who she expects to come forward.

“I’ve had several conversations in the last 24 hours with potential bidders as well as the EFL,” she told Wigan Today.

“And it does look increasingly like there will be a number of bids coming in over the next few days.

“I’ve also spoken directly to the administrators, who are very keen to find a resolution to this as quickly as possible.

“It seems like things are finally moving again after a long period of deadlock.

“And while there are no guarantees in this process, and never have been, it does feel like things are more positive and there’s every reason to believe we will be able to turn this around – hopefully even before the end of the transfer window.”

Ms Nandy also had a personal message to a fanbase that has received non-stop bad news since the club was controversially placed into administration on July 1.

“I know this has been such a frustrating and upsetting time, especially with it looking on a number of occasions there might be a resolution in sight,” she added.

“But we are making real progress now, and it’s so important for fans not to lose faith, and to keep believing.

“There are several options on the table, and there’s also a ‘Plan B’ – the fans have made sure of that by coming forward and raising so much money with their donations.

“And I remain optimistic 2021 will be the year we will start to rebuild this great football club.”
