The 27-year-old, who returned to the club this summer after four-and-a-half years away, has been sidelined with a thigh problem.

But he’s proved his fitness to boss Paul Cook, and travelled with the rest of the squad down to Norfolk yesterday with hopes of involvement.

Also on the team coach were strike duo Will Grigg and James Vaughan, who both missed last Friday’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City – which temporarily took Latics up to third place in the Championship.

Cook will make a late decision about both, although he won’t take any chances with big games against Swansea (next Tuesday) and Preston (next Saturday) looming fast.

“We just need to keep going, keep doing what we’ve been doing,” said Cook last night.

“We took six points from three games last week, and you’d probably take the same from these next three to maintain our fine start.”
