We can stay up after 'turning corner', insists Wigan Athletic star Kieffer Moore

The Wales striker scored a brace in Saturday's 2-2 draw at play-off chasing Cardiff, who twice came back to earn a share of the spoils.

Latics closed the gap to fourth-bottom Stoke to just three points, with 13 games to go.

And having picked up eight points from their last five fixtures, Moore is confident the team are on the right track.

“I think since the turn of the year, we have picked up an okay points total, and put in some very good performances," he said.

"I really think we have turned a corner, and it's about carrying that on now because a lot of our upcoming games are against teams around us.

"We are back at home next against Millwall, and we need to take that form on with us now."

Moore had a field day in the Welsh capital, flicking home Sam Morsy's cross on four minutes, before slotting home a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

“We put some great deliveries into the area, and for us to go 1-0 up and control the game was very good," Moore assessed.

“We were unlucky to only come away with a point, but we fought hard against a very physical team and we deserved a point.

“They put a lot of balls into the box and I had to go back for the long throws so it turned into a really physical battle."

Moore also had to hold his nerve before converting the spot-kick - given for handball - due to a longer-than-usual delay.

“I think it actually calmed me down," added the 27-year-old.

"It gave me a couple of extra seconds and then I saw the goalkeeper move, and luckily for me I put it the other side.

“I enjoyed the goal and then the penalty, I believe I can finish."
