Wigan Athletic chairman: Leam Richardson 'fully deserves this opportunity'
Richardson has been rewarded for his efforts in steering Latics to four points clear of the League One drop zone with three matches to play - against all the odds.
And the new Latics chairman believes the 41-year-old is the perfect man to lead the rebuild of a club that's been to hell and back during the last 10 months.

"I am delighted Leam has entrusted his future with us.
"He has helped bring stability and leadership during the very difficult times of our club and fully deserves this opportunity.
"All of us here at Phoenix 2021 Limited feel this is a great step towards a brighter future for Wigan Athletic Football Club.
"Long before Phoenix 2021 Limited became involved with the club, and during the dark period of administration, Leam stood by, supported and ensured - through his and his team's hard work and commitment - that our club can rise once again, like a Phoenix, as we all move forward.
