Reece James

Wigan Athletic (4-2-3-1):

Christian Walton: 6 - Will not want to see Leeds’ winning goal again but a very rare mistake for a consistent high performer.

* Reece James: 8 - Getting boring now but once again oozed quality...and capped another fine display with his first pro goal. *

Cedric Kipre: 6 - Something of a surprise to see him replace Dunkley in the defence, but did all right apart from the Leeds winner.

Dan Burn: 6 - Still finding his way back to the form that Latics fans know he’s capable of...in limbo ahead of January exit.

Antonee Robinson: 7 - Best game for a while, got forward at every opportunity with his incredible speed.

Sam Morsy: 6 - Found it tough going in the midfield and late booking means a one-match ban on the way.

Darron Gibson: 5 - Another surprising inclusion, at the expense of Evans, and didn’t get to grips with the game.

Nathan Byrne: 6 - Re-invented himself as a wide forward following the emergence of James and did all he could.

Josh Windass: 6 - Found himself hopelessly isolated up top at times, but not for the want of trying.

Kal Naismith: 5 Came into the side for the injured Powell and struggled to assert any sort of authority on the game.

Joe Garner: 5 - Put himself about with typical gusto but still to prove much of a threat in front of goal.

Subs used

Callum McManaman (for Garner, 64): 7 - Provided an immediate spark and has to be in contention for a start after too long on the bench.

Leo Da Silva Lopes (for Naismith, 70): 6 - League debut and didn’t look out of place at Championship level.

James Vaughan (for Gibson, 85): Didn’t have enough time to get involved.
