The 22-year-old is back at Christopher Park getting to know his new team-mates, having been recalled from his season-long loan at Motherwell.

With no question marks over his match fitness, he could well go straight into the starting XI at Rochdale on Saturday - at a level mhe has previously impressed during previous loan spells.

"I think in the last few years, I felt like a squad player at the club, which was frustrating," he said. "But that’s why I went out on loan, because I wanted to play every week.

"Coming back, the club is in League One – where I have already had some experience and enjoyed the league – and I think I can play a massive part in this team moving forwards.

"Hopefully I can impress in my first few games back and take it forwards and have a good season with the team.

And Lang says the spirit at the club to continue defying the odds - while off-field events take centre stage - will stand them in good stead.

"We need to improve on the position we’re in and we do need 11 players fighting for the same thing," he added. "That will be important for us and we have that.

"I can’t wait for the games because I think I have got a massive point to prove at the club.

"I was away for a while, but I always check on the results and want this team to do well.

"So to actually feel like a part of the club again and to try and impress on the pitch again is exciting for me."
