Wigan Athletic starlet poised for Premier League move
The 18-year-old - whose father David, the former Everton and Scotland defender, is now on the Brighton staff as pathway development manager - has travelled to the south coast the complete the move.
Weir became Wigan's youngest ever player two seasons ago, when he turned out against Accrington in the Checkatrade Trophy aged 15 years and 280 days.

Hide AdHe made his league debut at Birmingham in the penultimate game of last term, but his only first-team appearance this term came in the EFL Cup against Stoke last August.
Born in Warrington, he captained Scotland at Under-16 and Under-17 level, before switching to the ranks of England, whom he's represented at Under-17s and Under-18s.
The fee is understood to be in the region of £500,000 - with significant add-ons and a sell-on also included.
That money will cover the Latics wages until the end of the season, giving them some degree of breathing space as the administrators search for a buyer.
