Following Saturday’s result, if Wigan manage to avoid a defeat in next week’s trip to Doncaster they will win the league title thanks to a far superior goal difference to fellow title-chasers Blackburn Rovers.

Latics’ goal difference currently stands at +59 in comparison to Blackburn’s +41, and they have a two-point lead over Tony Mowbray’s side going into the final game of the season.

Latics fans were disappointed not to get all three points and take advantage of results elsewhere to secure the title but they are still excited of the prospect of a potential title party at the Keepmoat next week.

@CraigHilton71: “Shame, would have been nice to seal the title at home. Onto the last game next week, just a point needed.”

Stewart Hart(No1fan_): “Some tired legs today but it didn’t feel like a particularly high pressured game. Can enjoy the last matchday and celebrate promotion. See what happens with the title.”

@Rich_Harmer: “Could have had it today, but we just couldn’t put it past them. Onto Doncaster away next week!”

@JoeWinstanley88: “Wasn’t great today and missed the chance to win the title. All set up perfectly for next week at Donny though!!”

Dean Wilkinson: “Not an ideal result for the Tics there today but got away with it. One point needed next week.”

Sean Livesey(@livesey99): “Ahhh #wafc not doing things the easy way since 1992. Still next week looks interesting eh”

WiganSte(@SteFromWigan): “Not gonna lie, proper happy #wafc didn’t wrap up the title today whilst also happy we managed to edge a bit further in front. Reckon Doncaster next week has the potential to be an outrageously good (drunken idiot) day. Looking forward to it already!”

Connor(@brittonWAFC): “Should have won today to wrap it up but in hindsight it makes Doncaster away so much more enjoyable, what a day it will be.”

Ellis Radley(fifaradley): “Donny away next week is going to be class, should have beat them today though.”

Jonathan Gifford: “Charlton did the business and we struggled at home again, typical. Only a point needed against Doncaster but should’ve been wrapped today.”

@StuartGlover: “Scenes next Saturday when we’re nil all and Blackburn are 20-0 up at half time.”
