Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic will warm-up for their upcoming Championship campaign with a friendly at Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
The match takes place on Sunday July 29, kick-off 3pm, and will be Latics’ first ever trip to Ibrox Stadium.
It will see Liverpool-fan Cook go up against one of Anfield’s favourite sons – Gerrard took over at the Scottish outfit a month ago.
The announcement follows confirmation of two of Latics’ other pre-season fixtures – a trip to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday July 14 and Chesterfield FC for Tommy Lee’s testimonial on the 25th.
Wigan Athletic’s summer-signing Kal Naismith began his career at Rangers, while Gers’ defender James Tavernier who spent time at the DW Stadium from 2014-2015.
