The 35-year-old wanted to stay in the Championship to boost his chances of staying in the Scotland frame.

Sources in the East Midland suggest a deal could be completed this week.

Marshall had a year to run on his contract with Wigan Athletic, who are expected to receive a transfer fee from the Rams.

His likely exit will also remove his salary from the wage bill, without leaving the club short of cover for the No.1 spot, with Jamie Jones and Owen Evans also in the squad.

Speculation over Marshall's future comes amid reports Swansea City are chasing Jamal Lowe, while it is understood Antonee Robinson has had a medical at Fulham.

Keiffer Moore (Cardiff), Joe Gelhardt (Leeds), Alfie Devine (Spurs), Jensen Weir (Brighton) and Daniel Gyollai (Peterborough) have already left.

Out-of-contract Leon Balogun (Rangers), Chey Dunkley (Sheffield Wednesday) and Lewis Macleod (Plymouth) have also moved on while manager Paul Cook resigned.
