WIGANERS are being invited to get in the Rugby League World Cup mood at a pre-match celebration event.
Before the quarter final at the DW Stadium on Saturday, there will be a community event from 4pm until 6.30pm in Robin Park Sports Arena.
There will be songs and drama performances by local school children from St Mary and St John’s Primary School, face painting, music, cup cake making, arts and crafts.
Nick Burdekin, RLWC Education Officer for Wigan Council, said: “We wanted to give the community and schools the chance to get involved prior to the match, which will now almost certainly involve England, at the DW Stadium. All activities are free.
“It would be great for the wider public to come and support our event before then heading over to the DW Stadium to watch a wonderful Rugby League World Cup match right on our own doorstep.”
There are still tickets available for the quarter final match.
