TWO members of Wigan Gymnastics club were celebrating successes at the weekend against athletes from around the country.
Gymnasts Leah Burke and Chloe Hamer competed in the Greater Manchester Open Championships held at Robin Park Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday.
The competition is open to gymnasts from all over the country.
Both girls competed in the Junior age group section.
Burke, 14, showed a great competitive attitude and finished in a very creditable 3rd place overall.
She also took silver medal on the Assymetric Bars and Gold medal on the Beam.
Hamer, age 13 from Orrell looked very strong finishing in 6th and just missing out on a medal on Beam. She is now preparing for the Challenge Cup National event at the end of June in Guildford.
Head coach Mike Lea said: “I am really pleased with this result. Both girls work very hard in training at Robin Park gymnastics centre, they are excellent role models for our younger gymnasts. I am particularly pleased for Chloe who thoroughly deserves this great result. I look forward to her performance in the Challenge Cup later this month”.
