JENNY Meadows will line up alongside some of athletics’ biggest names at the Sainsbury’s Birmingham Grand Prix next month.

The Wigan Harriers athlete, from Abram, will take her place in the 800m in the event on June 7, where Olympic champions Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford will also be competing.

The 34 year-old will be looking to get back into the form she displayed at the start of the year, which included two sub-2 minutes times before her withdrawal from the final of the 800m final at the European Championships in Prague in March.

In the Women’s Division One meeting at Derby last weekend, Meadows ran a new season’s best of 54.65 to finish second in the women’s 400 metres as the ladies’ team won the meeting.

It was also a successful day for Micaela Brindle in both track and field with a 1st place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.71m as well as a season’s best time of 12.45 in the 100 metres to finish 3rd.

This was added with a season’s best time in the 100m hurdles of 14.61 to give her a 1st place finish.

In the pole vault both Abigail Roberts and Fiona Hockey topping their group with distances of 3.80 and 3.50 respectively.

Alexandra Russell also produced a season’s best performance in the long jump group A with 6.20m to take 1st place in her event to double up the 1st place achieved by Micaela Brindle.

Elsewhere, the team events provided more positive results for Wigan and District as they ran well in the 4 x 100m to finish 3rd and then was followed up with a 2nd place finish in 4 x 400m hurdles with times of 48.55 and 3:53.5 respectively.
