WIGAN Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan is to speak to the Parliamentary Rugby League Group in the Palace of Westminster.
MPs, Peers and non-Parliamentary Associate Members will hear from him following last year’s double-winning season culminating in the World Club Challenge in Australia against Sydney Roosters.
A Wigan man and no stranger to making headlines off the field with his views on sport, Lenagan also sits on the FA Council and the Board of the Football League as Chairman of Oxford United Football Club.
He will be giving his thoughts on the direction of the game for Super League and the sport in general.
The Group’s chairman, Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Ian to speak to the group. He is well known for supporting rugby league and football and after a terrific season for the Warriors can rightly be proud of Wigan’s long and continued successes.
“Ian will be speaking to members who share the same vision of seeing rugby league be the best it can, and we welcome his insight on what is needed to create a long-term successful club, brand, and sport.”
On being invited to speak, Lenagan said: “It’s an honour to be asked to speak in parliament to the Rugby League Group. To have such a group of people supporting rugby league in Westminster is terrific and I am looking forward to giving them my experience with Wigan and across rugby league and other sports.”
