LIZZIE Jones will sing the national anthem ahead of England’s game against New Zealand at the DW Stadium, it has been announced.
Lizzie is the wife of former Keighley Cougars and Wales international Danny, who died from an undiagnosed hereditary heart disease after collapsing during a match against London Skolars earlier this year.
A professional singer, she also sang before the Challenge Cup final at Wembley where the heartwarming image of her embracing the couple’s baby twins Bobby and Phoebe after the song was beamed around the world on television.
Since Danny’s death fans, players, administrators and the wider public have donated over hundreds of thousands of pounds to a trust fund set up by the RFL Benevolent Fund to secure the futures of the babies.
Lizzie will perform to a sell-out DW Stadium crowd ahead of the final test match against the Kiwis, with the series tied at 1-1.
