A YOUNG tennis star has served herself the opportunity of a lifetime by securing a scholarship to study in the US.
Annabel Rowlands will begin her American Dream in August as she begins a prestigious scholarship at Arkansas Tech University.

Rowlands, from Standish, caught the eye of several universities in the US before choosing to sign a national letter of intent with Arkansas Tech University following a visit to the campus last October.
The former St John Fisher Catholic High School pupil said: “It has been my dream to play college tennis in America since I was a little girl.
“College tennis is huge in the States.
“The facilities are amazing and I will get to travel and play tennis at a high level while continuing to study for a BSc in biology.”
The 17-year-old joins top young athletes from around the world, and she is already itching to get started with her new venture.
“I couldn’t be happier,” she said.
“I loved the feel of the place. My team mates are from the US, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Russia.
“We are a great international mix and I can’t wait to be part of the Tech Family!”
Rowlands also acknowledged the support of her family and coach which has helped her secure the opportunity, as well as admitting how hard it was to reach her goal.
She said: “I’m very proud that my hard work has paid off and I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me along the way especially my family and coach, Danielle Hock from Bolton Arena.”
