FORMER Ashes winning England skipper Michael Vaughan has taken to the field at Lord’s, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Sabina Park - but Wigan’s own Bull Hey could be next on his list.
The cricket legend could be heading to the borough if members of Wigan Cricket Club get their wish thanks to a national competition.
The club are bidding to host a game featuring the England legend and they need your help to win the vote.
Steve Martlew, junior cricket coordinator, said: “It would be a fantastic opportunity for the club and even more national coverage for the borough in what has been a memorable sporting year for Wigan already.
“We think Michael may have played at Wigan many years ago in a Yorkshire versus Lancashire second team game, however it would be great to see him and his all star 11 at Bull Hey.”
NatWest bank is running a national competition giving clubs across the country the chance to take on the NatWest Legends in a fundraising match.
Supporters can vote each day for their favourite team online - and the top 10 clubs with the most votes will the go through to a second round once the competition closes on Saturday, June 29.
Steve has high hopes for the team and is urging Wiganers to get behind the club and help them win this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
He added: “It takes around 30 seconds each day just to register a vote and anybody can vote on the website at cricket.natwest.com/lvl from all your devices at home. That includes a PC, a laptop, an iPad and any smartphone.
“Each of the technologies register separate votes and you can double them all by sharing through Twitter and Facebook each time.”
