SIR Bradley Wiggins has won gold in the men’s time trial at the Road World Championships in Spain.
The Olympic Champion secured his first roald world title in Ponferrada, Spain, with a stunning time trial ride.
Wiggins, 34, beat German Tony Martin, who himself had beaten Wiggins in previous years, by 26.23 seconds on the gruelling 47.1km course.
Martin, seeking a fourth-straight world title, had to settle for silver in 56 minutes 51.75secs, while Tom Dumoulin of Holland finished in 57:06.16 to take bronze.
It was Britain’s first gold in the event in 20 years, since Chris Boardman won the inaugural edition of the road time-trial.
Warriors fan Wiggins now has a road rainbow jersey to go with his three from the track.
