Podium finish for Wigan's Rob Hodson at post-Isle of Man TT races

Wigan's Rob Hodson followed-up his impressive Isle of Man TT display with a podium finish at Saturday's post TT races.

On the four-and-a-quarter-mile Billown Circuit, near Castletown on the Isle of Man, Hodson stormed to a second placed finish in the Manx Independent Carriers 1100cc race on his BMW.

Winner James Cowton took the lead on lap one and held Hodson who kept the pressure on throughout the eight-lap race.

Hodson missed out on victory by just 0.6 seconds as Cowton set a lap record of 112.345 mph.

Ryan Kneen also secured an emotional third place, a day after receiving the Spirit of the TT Award.

He returned to the mountain course a couple of days after brother Dan was killed for a practice lap wearing one of Dan's spare helmets.

Hodson also managed a fourth-place on his 650cc Kawasaki in the Radcliffe Butchers 250/650cc race earlier in the day, missing-out on a podium spot to Jonathan Perry who finished less than a second ahead of the Wiganer.

In the opening CuPlas Callow 600cc race which opened the day’s event Hodson took his 675 Triumph to home in ninth.

The paint sprayer from Ashton-in-Makerfield was a late entry to the races, and was in action just 24 hour after an astonishing finish of 14th in the Isle of Man TT Senior which earned him a bronze replica.

Riders return to the Isle of Man in August for the Classic TT.
