Wigan head to the south of France for a match which promises exciting match-ups across the pitch.

Ex-Sydney Roosters, Cronulla and Penrith ace Maloney (above) has made a big impression since moving to Super League this year – and he’s a player Lam knows well.

“I was with James at the Roosters and also at the Kangaroos,” said Lam, the Australia assistant coach.

“He’s a world class five-eighth, he was in our Kangaroos side only 12 months ago. So it’s not hard to see why they’re doing well at the moment. He better bring his shoulder pads – we’ll be making him do some tackles!

“He’s a character, James, but he’s very professional, the team he’s been involved with has always been successful. He’s got an aura around him, wherever he goes he brings success, I’m sure he’s rubbing that off on the Catalans group.”

Today’s game, with an expected crowd of 5,000, kicks-off at 5pm UK time and is live on Sky Sports.

“There are mouthwatering match-ups everywhere,” said Lam. “It’s exciting to have a crowd again.”
