The Warriors have leaked just two tries in their last three matches.

And though Leeds' touchdown early in the second-half cut Wigan s lead to 8-6, Lam always felt confident they would come out on top in this spirited Headingley clash.

"I thought it was a really physical game, I'm proud of the boys," he said.

"I thought we defended really well, I thought two tries tonight would be enough because our defence has been outstanding.

"I'm really proud of that part, and that's why I was quite confident even (at 8-6)."

Lam saluted Zak Hardaker - again at full-back in the absence of Bevan French - as well as two-try Liam Farrell and their clutch of young forwards, such as Morgan Smithies, Joe Shorrocks and Ethan Havard.

But he added: "We know we have some improvement there, we want to improve our discipline.

"We've got some big games coming up and this was a good opportunity to get some steel into us."
