Bateman does double at Wigan Warriors' awards night
John Bateman formally signed off his Wigan career tonight with a special double.
He was named player of the year and players' player of the year at the club's end of season awards dinner.
Bateman, who was shortlisted for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel, has been outstanding in the Warriors' title-winning campaign.
Elsewhere, Gabe Hamlin was named Wigan's young player of the year, Sam Powell took the community award and Gemma Walsh the women's player of the year.
Umyla Hanley (Under-16s) and Harry Smith (U19s) were again honoured - having been presented with their awards at a Super-8s game - while Vicky Cowpland took the Peter Higginbottom Recognition Award.
Also departing Wigan director of performance Mark Bitcon was given life membership of the club - he becomes the first since Matty Bowen to get the honour.
And the final honour of the night went to Shaun Wane, who was also made a life member, as he picked up the Chairman's Award from Ian Lenagan.
